doin the right thing

Okay so I have told myself that I am going to start trying to eat right. For the millionth time I will start this. My weakness? Grabbing something quick instead of taking the time to buy/plan/fix something nutritious. It is so much easier to grab n go... and some fast food joints have a few healthy choices... but I have gotten tired of the McDonalds parfait for breakfast and subway for lunch... i need variety! and I KNOW what to eat and I love a lot of "good for you" foods (grilled salmon is my fave main course) but it is time and money consuming to eat right all the time. But I have vowed to myself to get it in gear. There is no choice. And water-I have to drink more water-dr pepper isn't something I need everyday, its just my addiction and I have to fight it! And lets not forget exercise~also lacking there. My arthritic knees do limit me physically but I am sure I can find SOMETHING to keep me on the move. I am using the next week to "practice" all of this (payday is this week-end so can't go forward til I have some money!)-wish me luck!

Summer time!! Isn't it great?? Full of get-togethers with family and friends, long hot days and schedules that are over-flowing! I love it! I have threatened my grandchildren with getting in the kiddie pool with them (its on the back patio so maybe not too many people will see me!) ...the slip-n-slide looks fun too but these ol' knees won't allow that!! Why is that hot dogs cooked on the grill are so much better than the ones you make in your kitchen?? And we won't even talk about the home-made ice cream... just one word~yum! I took my two oldest grandkids to see the new Ice Age movie and was shocked at the prices, especially for the food. My granddaughter still gets in free since she isn't three years old yet, thank goodness. But a medium drink and a medium popcorn were $12.00!! Are you kidding me??!! But the movie was really good and worth the money we paid. July the 4th was celebrated at my sisters house with a cook-out and just spending the day with family and friends. She lives near the high school so we "old folks" watched them from the house while the "younguns" walked the half-mile to watch up-close.
